The Opportunity

As a Backend Engineer, you’ll work on cutting-edge SEO software platforms with our distributed team. You will create and keep up scalable backend apps, design APIs, and work with teams from different departments to add features that have a direct effect on how well businesses do online.

This job is completely remote, so you can work from anywhere in Pakistan. It pays a competitive salary in USD and gives you the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies while helping to make products that some of the biggest companies in the world use.

What You’ll Do

Backend Development

  • Use Python and Django to build and keep scalable backend apps running.
  • Use Django Rest Framework to create and improve high-performance APIs.
  • Make database schemas that work well and write optimized queries for MySQL and Postgres
  • Use Celery to run background tasks
  • Use Test-Driven Development (TDD) and thorough testing to make sure your code is good.

System Architecture & Design

  • Help with the overall design and architecture of backend systems
  • Make sure your app runs well and can handle more users.
  • Use microservices architecture and containerization (Docker)
  • Use Redis to set up caching strategies
  • Come up with solutions that can handle a lot of traffic and data.

Code Quality & Best Practices

  • Make sure your code is clean, easy to test, easy to maintain, and fast.
  • Use TDD principles to make sure that all tests are run.
  • Take part in code reviews and give helpful feedback.
  • Make sure that coding standards are followed and use Flake8 to check code quality.
  • Write down all the details about the code, APIs, and system architecture.

Collaboration & Agile Development

  • Work closely with designers, product managers, and frontend engineers.
  • Work together to come up with and put into action new product features
  • Use GitLab Boards to take part in Scrum ceremonies
  • Teach team members what you know and help them grow.
  • Take part in technical talks and decisions

DevOps & Deployment

  • Use Docker Compose to work with containerized environments.
  • Use Kubernetes to deploy and keep applications running on GCP.
  • Use ArgoCD and GitLab to set up CI/CD pipelines.
  • Keep an eye on how well the app works and fix problems when they come up.
  • Make sure the system is reliable and always on.

Required Qualifications

Essential Experience

  • 5+ years of professional experience with Python/Node.js
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Django Rest Framework
  • 3+ years working with MySQL or PostgreSQL databases
  • Strong expertise writing test cases and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Proven track record building scalable backend systems

Technical Requirements

  • Python 3 – Advanced proficiency
  • Django & Django Rest Framework – Expert level
  • Database Design – Strong SQL skills with MySQL/Postgres
  • RESTful API Design – Creating well-documented, scalable APIs
  • Testing – Unit testing, integration testing, TDD methodology
  • Version Control – Proficient with Git and GitLab
  • Docker – Experience with containerization and Docker Compose
  • Code Quality Tools – Understanding of Flake8 and code standards

Development Practices

  • Strong understanding of Scrum/Agile methodologies
  • Experience with GitLab or similar DevOps platforms
  • Use of Cursor (AI-powered code editor) in day-to-day work
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies
  • Comfortable working in Mac OS or Linux development environments

Advanced Backend Experience

  • Experience with ClickHouse or other columnar databases
  • Background in high-traffic, data-intensive applications

  • Experience with message queues beyond Celery (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
  • Understanding of caching strategies and Redis optimization

SEO & Analytics Background

  • Understanding of SEO principles and metrics
  • Experience building analytics or data processing platforms
  • Background in web scraping or data aggregation
  • Knowledge of search engine technologies

DevOps & Cloud

  • GCP certification or extensive GCP experience
  • Kubernetes administration skills
